Why Make Playstyle of Games you're passionate about

It's hard to make/ understand systems that you don't really care about. When the given system in question is boring the question becomes then, "why are you playing it then?" You ask yourself this question more and more until you realize "yeah, why am I playing this?" or even "why am I building this?" It sucks because what you want to make doesn't line up with what people often want. You end up asking yourself, "is this worth spending time on?"

I enjoy RPGs and 2D platformers, action platformers; I enjoy Rogue-Likes.

It doesn't make sense for me to build a fighting game if I don't enjoy what makes a fighting game a fighting game. You have passion, understanding and resources at your disposal for the given systems in question. Those with passion chase what they love and understand the system better than other people, passion will bleed into your work but a lack of passion won't.

When you're passionate about something; you'll be thinking about it while at work, when you're not passionate about something; you won't be thinking about it at work. I think about my game at work and my passion kind of bleeds out too much. The other problem during game design is a number of other issues I have yet to tackle or address.

Your soul and care will show in your work. People who lack passion or a vision; it'll show in their work as well.
